Mitosis

Mitosis is the name given for the process of somatic cell division. It is an amazing systematic process. Any mistake in the whole event for one cell could potentially be catastrophic for the whole organism. See how it all takes place from beginning to end. After reading your textbook and viewing this and other films a few times, you should have a better grasp on the phases.

Meiosis

This video features Meiosis. It gives graphic explanations of the various phases. This makes it easy to distinguish Mitosis and Meiosis despite their many similarities. You should be able to explain all of the chromosomal procedures in each phase after viewing this ( expecially if you have an understanding of your textbook chapter).



You have just viewed an explanation of the term, "crossing over" and all of the events in Meiosis.  Can you discuss these events in your own words? What happens in Anaphase 2 and Telophase? What is the end result?
